My first Movies of the Week

Good afternoon everybody!

Hope you are all having a nice Sunday!

I know i left you with hopes about my next post that it would evolve around my favourite pc games and programs but today is Sunday. And Sunday is a very special day. Sunday is the day that i will dedicate to movies. Movies that i have watched the whole week that has passed. Therefore these posts will be called Movies of the Week.
These movies don't necesserily need to be new ones. I will be writing about every kind of movie i have seen. I will write my thoughts and rewiews about each one, so that you can get ideas of a movie that you want to watch, or even remember an old one that you have already watched and want to see it again.

So let's move on to the first Movies of the Week!

In order of view, the movies that i watched this week were :
(you can click on the names for further information on imdb)

(Note that all following information is my opinion and only, and it may differ from one person to another)

                      How to train your dragon

Genre: Animation , Adventure
Duration: 1,5 hours
Year: 2010

What a lovely movie! It has to be one of my favorite animations and i am a big fan of animation movies, so i have seen a lot of them. It definitely can entairtain even adult audiences and it isn't too childrenly like.
It is about a viking village where they deal everyday with dragon invasions and a boy that makes a change. Hiccup, the teenage protagonist, will meet a dragon, train him and finally create a bond of trust. In this village where everybody thinks dragons as an enemy, things won't be that easy, and Hiccup and his pet dragon will meet various adventures.
It is said that a second movie will be made and i CAN'T WAIT for it to come out. You must definitely see this one.

                                  Up

Genre: Animation , Adventure
Duration: 1,5 hours
Year: 2009

Long story short another excellent movie. Very touchy, funny, agonizing?! (i was always anxious if they would make it till the end) . To say the truth they went a little to far with the flying house, to much of a bedtime story for me, but still it was a very original story.
This one is about an old man, that after the death of his wife is left all alone and decides to go on a meaningfull adventure. He wants to place his house near the Paradise Falls in South America, a childhood dream of his and his wife. On his journey he will meet many companions  (more than i thought at the begining when i saw this film) and will get more than once in trouble. The end was very fulfilling.

                            Les Miserables

Genre: Drama , Lifelong movie
Duration: 2 hours and something
Year: 1998

Let me first explain that the term 'lifelong movie' is something that i have invented and it is reffered to movies that last many heroes' lifetimes, showing them grow, how they evolve in time and even their children or grandchildren lives.
I think that there is nothing to be said about this movie. It is a classic that will last in time and a movie that has to teach you something good and noble.
This was the movie that i fell in love with Jean Valjean firstly and mainly, and following that Lian Neeson. Also the acting by Geoffrey Rush is magnificent , that's why he is one of my favorite actors, and finally the soundtrack gives you the chills.
You can hear it here

                              Warm Bodies

Genre: Romance , Zombie apocalypse
Duration: 1,5 hours
Year: 2013

Me.not.like. Here i said it. It even has an 7.4 rating on imdb. I seriously don't get it.
The movie takes place after the zombie apocalypse and evolves around the relationship of a male zombie and a girl.
I found it with stupid plot, very boring, not original and unworthy of the money i paid to see it in cinema.
The only thing that was worth, was the hottness and relatively good acting of the male protagonist Nicholas Hoult.

                             The Hunger Games

Genre: Adventure
Duration: Almost 2,5 hours
Year: 2012

Nothing too fancy but i liked it. As i haven't read the books, i have to say that the movie ends nicely, giving the viewer something to expect for the next movie, without leaving him too anxious.
The story takes place in another society, a parallel universe, that there exsist 12 districts, all being watched over by the capitol. Every year is held a competition of life or death, called The Hunger Games. In these games bets are placed, alliances are formed and plans are being devised.

                              The illusionist

Genre: Mystery , Romance , period film
Duration: Almos 2 hours
Year: 2006

Oh my love Edwart Norton! He was my first motivation to see this movie. I love mystery movies and movies that take place in another century, but the part of Edward Norton was the workhorse (forgive me if my expression is wrong).
It is about a wizard called Eisenheim, the mystery behind his shows and his forbidden love with the king's fiance.
Again i wasn't that impressed. It wasn't as intriguing as i hoped it would be, and not a big of a mystery to be solved. Better watch a Sherlock Holmes movie if you want something of that kind.
This movie isn't a complete disappointment but you shouldn't have very high expectations either. Just my opinion though.

                Angus, thongs and perfect snogging

Genre: Teenage , Comedy , Romance
Duration: 1,5 hours and a little bit more
Year: 2008

Come on! This movie has 6.3 on imdb. Why? :( It is one of my favorite teenage movies or i should better say the favorite! Most teenaged-oriented movies are crap with shitty acting and shitty plot. This one on the contrary is a decent film. Let me rephrase that. MORE than decent.
It is funny, with quick evolving plot that never leaves you bored and excellent acting. The two female protagonists play their roles nicely.
The story is about a teenage girl and her bestfriends that start to have their first problems with boys. They are growing up, facing the teenage problems that all teenagers go through and on top of that trying to deal with boys.
I have already watched it 3 times and it is guaranteed to offer you a happy afternoon.

                          Moonrise kingdom

Genre: Drama , Romance , kids film , cinematic
Duration: 1,5 hours
Year: 2012

Oh my love Edwart Norton again!
This movie is about two children, each with its own unique and problematic character that fall in love and run away from their homes in order to be together. Some big movie screen actors take part in this film making it even more intriguing to watch.
I really-really loved this film and the way it was shooted (hence the genre cinematic that i mentioned above). The plot is original, nothing too special but still a distinguishing film.
Not an everyday film, i think that either you will love it or you will hate it, because of its direction.
And something last, the movie contains nice music choices.

That was all of this week's Movies of the Week. Tell me what you think of them, if i gave you some ideas for a future movie to see, or in case you have already seen them, if you agree with my reviews.

Till my next post,
kisses and a paw
