Things I crave : November 2015

Greetings my dear cat readers!!!!

Fall and winter is here and with that my cravings..... He he he. Well cravings never stop they just change form according to the seasons and trends of the moment.

So below I present to you my current cravings that are officially taking their place in my never ending wishlist.

1) The red One by One Volume Mascara by Maybelline

There is no explanation behind that. My local make-up store happens to sell this mascara for 7 euros and if you know me I cannot turn down a cheap and of good quality product.

2) Victoria's Secret angel wings bracelets

I found these on ebay for around 20 US dollars including shipping. Too cute to say no. Just imagine it, you and your angel wings bracelets, secretly feeling like a Victoria's Secret angel. :)

3) Victoria's Secret Bombshell mist

I love all my perfumes and body mists. I have heard so many good reviews about this one I got to have it. It is quite pricey (30 dollars for the 250ml) but scents is my soft spot.

4) Victoria's Secret Love Addict mist

Same opinion as for the Bombshell mist. I really love all the scents and I can never grow tired of them.  I believe Love Addict is a new addition in the VS mists as I have not seen it before.

It smells like wild orchid and blood orange............Mmmm I can't wait to try it. Also the pink bottle is adorable.

5) Lancome Mascara

I have heard so many good reviews for this mascara that I cannot wait to try it. The bottle looks GORGEOUS!!!! It costs around 30 euro but it is ok. It is a luxury item and it wouldn't be so if it didn't cost as much.

6) Dior Diorshow mascara

Same thoughts for this mascara. Blog Posts have it that this mascara is an all time classic and as a woman who respects herself should at least once in her life give it a try.

7) Estee Lauder Modern Muse perfume

Finally one of my most recent cravings. The last time I was perfume/make-up shopping i fell upon this fragrance. I know this is a new entry for the brand, representing a winter smell. I tried it on me and I believe it is really good. It smells wintery, chic and sophisticated without reminding of an old woman. My opinion is that this perfume is easily suited for younger ages giving them a more sophisticated vibe.

Well my dear cat readers. That was all for today. What are your cravings for this fall-winter? Let me know in the comments below. Love you all and thank you for reading my post!!!

Kisses,
The cat

Lily Collins : A piece of perfection!

Greetings Greetings everyone!

I was serfing the net the other day and i fell upon these images of Lily Collins.

                                                                  |
                                                                  |
                                                                  |
                                                                  |
                                                                  |
                                                                  |
                                                                  |
                                                                \/

Isn't she a pure perfection? Simple and classic and yet so sexy. I love it! I immediately fell in love with this look.

After a little research i discovered that this kimono that she is wearing on top, is from topshop. I researched it a little bit on their site so as to find it but unfortunately i didn't. Maybe it was an old piece and it is withdrawn. After all these pics are from a pre-golden globes party that Lily Collins attended back in January.

The kimono:
As you can see with a little bit of an effort, the label on the inside of the clothe writes "Topshop"

Other various photos that i managed to find from this event. (the only ones i am afraid)

It's potent! , Benefit's eye cream trial..............

HELLO DEAR CAT READERS!

Long time no see but here i am again with a new post.

You won't imagine the good news, well basically you can imagine them by the title but still, I FINALLY GOT BENEFIT'S EYE CREAM!

I wanted this eye cream for so long. It was one of these items that you know, you have on a forever pending to buy list, and they stay there until you manage to fullfil those wishes. Well yesterday, the 27th of March was the day that i fullfilled the buy of benefit's eye cream. As you can read for yourselves here, i had mentioned this specific cream and in the past.

I bought it from Sephora and i didn't intent to buy it but what the odds, that day Sephora had a 35% off to various creams, so i decided it was a good opportunity.

Here in Greece the original price is 34 euros and with the discount of 35%, the final price was 22 euros.

   Moving on to the product.

The jar

The bottom of the jar

A full view (this white disk was inside the cream when you first open it)

And from above

What you see from above when you open the packaging

The complete family!

I don't need to state it myself, the facts are obvious. The packaging is adorable. The jar itself it's so adorable that i am sure i won't through it away after i am done with the product.

Now, as far as how effective the eye-cream is i don't know yet. I only used it once last night. But i decided to start a new project.

This eye-cream states that fades dark circles and helps smooth fine lines. I decided to record on photografs the progress of my eye area from day to day to see if this is true and to what extent.
I intent to use the eye cream only at night, around both eyes, on the upper and lower lid, as well as a little bit on the sides of the eyes (where the crow's feet type of wrinkles tend to form). Also i am thinking to take pictures of my eyes every morning (after use pics) and every night before going to bed (before use pics).

After let's say 1 month i will catch up with you, posting the photographs and deciding together if the eye-cream really did work. I think it is going to be an exciting project and i honestly can wait for the results. I have heard the best for this eye-cream so i expect the results to be no less than spectacular.

Some more pics for those who are interested to read.

The behind view of the packaging of the cream

And the information on mini leaflet. That was all. Afterwards it is just the same but in other languages.

Till the next post loved ones,
Kisses and many many kitten paws

Essence hits and misses - My skin / Pure skin collection

Happy Monday everyone!

Hope everyone is doing great! Today the weather here in my city was excellent so that's definately a mood booster.

I have for you today, a review post. It is a review mainly on 2 essence skin products that i had on my vanity for quite some time, waiting to be reviewed. Unfortunately even though i LOVE essence (most of my make up products are by essence) these following two products were a major disaster. Major. I could not be more dissappointed :(

The products that i am referring to are :

  • My skin - face cream for normal to dry skin
  • My skin - cooling eye roll-on  with cucumber

Let's start of with the face cream.

From first sight it looks good. It has a nice soft and cool texture with a light peach color. It also has a slight (not to intense) fruity scent. So far all good. The instructions recommend to be used mornings and evenings after cleansing , evenly on face, neck and decolte.

I consider my skin to be dry with oily areas and not too sensitive. Turns out i was wrong. This face cream didn't feel at all nice on my skin.

I go by the moto that if a face cream is really good that means that you can use it on your eye area as well. And so i always place my face cream aaaaaaaaall over my face. And this face cream by essence didn't feel nice on my eye area.

The first sensation when you place the cream is coolness. Ah, such a nice feeling. You feel coolness and the sensation of hydrating. But this feeling goes away after 1-2 minutes after the cream is applied. Afterwards you are left with a sticky skin, not hydrated at all and it also tends to burn a little.......

Please note that this may just happen to my own skin and not to everyone. But for me is was a great miss. I only used it 3 times on face. I couldn't bare it for more than that. In order to do my money justice i decided to use it as a hand cream (not good hydration results there either)

(A swatch and bellow it has been spread. Not a great difference but i thought to go ahead and upload it. It didn't make my hand lighter. It is just the lighting)

Author's notes April 2014: I finally didn't use it as a hand cream. It never really absorbed in my hand and so it left it with a weird pasty feeling. I had to throw it away.

Moving on to the eye roll-on.

   Another great dissapointment :(

Generally i have a very dry under eye area. If i don't use an eye cream or something hydrating underneath my eyes i cannot place my concealer. It tends to burn my skin and crack. I am accustomed to using the eye-roller by garnier beforehand, but i am always open for a new replacer. I though that i could give this product a go. Turns out nothing.

That's right. Nothing. This product does nothing. Oh, not only nothing but something bad as well. Again as the previous product, it is cool and deceives you with a feeling of hydration but after 1 minute it turns to a gummy consistency.

I don't want to exaggerate but really not only it didn't help me place my concealer, but it also made it worse..... I ended up removing this product with a tissue in order to manage to place my concealer.

Again, 2 times i tried using this product and no more. I also cannot think of an alternative use for it so i guess i will have to throw it away after this post.

My conclusive opinion is that these 2 products didn't worth the 6-7 euros i paid for them (i think i bought the face cream 4 euros and the roll-on 3) but it may just be my own skin. I don't want to be absolute.

To lighten things up i will leave you with a positive review for essence. One that has to do with their Pure skin, SOS Spot killer product. It looks like that.

This product it consisted of 2 parts. A white powder and a translucent liquid. You are meant to shake the bottle before use and so what you have is a white "watery" paste. The smell of it is quite intense and resembles of alcohol, medicine and clean medical equipment, which is great come to think that it's purpose is to deal with spots.

I don't think it can cure your acne, but if you have one big red pimple, placing this on top will help it cool off. Also i have the impression that if you place is on a pimple that you just squeezed it will help the bacteria not to transfer and so no new pimples will be created in the nearby area.
The product dries white on the skin, so i use it before i go to sleep and wash it off (what has remained at least) when i wake up.

(It dries white on the skin)

So my dear cat readers that was all for today. Essence is a favorite brand of mine so i have to say that i was quite dissapointed with my misses but what can you do. At least their other products make up for these misses.

Till the next time,
kisses and a paw

HAPPY 2014 !!!! + My resolution of Happiness

HAPPY 2014 LOVED ONES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 2014 to you and your loved ones, i hope that 2014 will bring you as many of your hearts' desires as possible! Stay healthy , happy , energetic , and positive thinking!

I decided to celebrate this new year with a change of the blog's layout. What do you think? I find it dreamy, lilacy (i love lilac) and i also love the books! I hope you are enjoying it as much as i am.

My dear readers, i know that for once again i have been absent for so long but it is something that you should be getting accustomed by now. I don't intend to give up on my blog, it is just that i write whenever i feel time-pressure free. And i never forget you. I hope that you as well will cope with me and make do with my blog posts' frequency as it is. I will try to post whenever possible, whatever possible means.

MOVING ON dear ones i though to start this year of with a simple but meaningful post.

A few weeks ago, i fell upon this video on youtube. The video, is a speech by Sam Berns that talks about happiness in one's life and 3 ways to achieve it.

Summing up these 3 ways towards a happier life:

1. Don't waste energy and focus on things that you can't do because there is so much that you CAN do

2. Surround yourself with people you want to be around

3. Keep moving forward

Bonus: Never miss a party if you can help it ;)

Generally i tend to be depressed and overestimate things. I was in a need of nice philosophical words and so i really watched this video with my full attention. I was deeply moved. I don't cry generally at speaches but this time i cried. And i didn't cry because of this young boy and his incurable disease that leads directly and unmistakably to untimely death. I cried because of how true his words are. Because how wise and strong he is despite his age.

So i am not forwarding this message to you as to feel sorry for him and lucky that you are healthy. Yes, to think that (that you are lucky to be healthy) is also a good thought. But what i am forwarding this youtube video is to help you revise your life. Think these 3 ways towards happiness and if you think you could use some extra happiness in you life, implement them.

These small precious moments fill us with wisdom and help us move on.

Last but not least i believe that Sam is an invaluable speaker. He has a great way with the audience.

That was all my dear cat readers. I hope you found this post inspirational and full with positive energy. In case you didn't watch the whole video i recomend you scroll up and watch it all. All 12:45 minutes. They are really a treasure.

Till the next time,
kisses and a paw

Gossiping: Lily Collins had a ghost experience!

Good evening dear cat readers!!!

I have missed you all. Life is hard at some points but you must always keep up.

On the bright side of things now, recently as i was fangirling on Lily Collins, i was watching her interviews on youtube, and came across this one. The interview was on the Late Night show with Jimmy Fallon that aired on August 2013.

I know it's an old interview, and many of you may have already watched this, but for me it was the first time ever to watch this interview.

During their talk though, what caught my attention and creeped me out at the same point, was when the host says: ''I wanna hear about this girl'' and Lily starts telling a story about a ghost......

The narrating starts around 1:10 goes something like that:

'' I was shooting in Dublin, i was staying at the Sellborn hotel in Dublin, which is a really classic hotel but it has got a really dark history. I was sleeping one night and felt this presence of a body next to me. I was sleeping and i was feeling just like a presence was standing right there. And i was do i open my eyes, do i not, the whole ''little-girl mentalia'' if it can't see me i can't see it kind of thing. So i open my eyes and i hear a giggle and i felt a rush of air across my body and i heard all these doors slamming, like firedoors. Three of them, and there were three doors outside my room.
And we called the hotel and they were like ''Oh yeah, you're on the sixth floor'' , like stuff went down. And the girl's name is Mary Masters, from the eighteenth hundreds. It is a legit little girl that dyied there. ''

Please excuse my writing, i am sure it is pretty correct, but since English is not my first language there may be some mistakes. Especially on the names.............. But i think that you can get the whole idea of the story.

So what do you think? I for sure got creeped out..... I remember it was late night when i was watching this interview and i felt goosebumps on my spine.

So that's for now loved ones.

Till the next time,
kisses and a paw

Book Corner : Goosebumps haul N5 + '' The Cry of the Wolf '' book review by Melvin Burgess

Good morning dear cat readers!

Today is Thursday, the day dedicated to books.

Again i am going to post about the new set of Goosebumps that i borrowed. Don't worry, this kind of post will continue for a little more (until i finish my Goosebumps borrowing "programme") and then a different variety of book posts will follow. Book reviews, book recommendations, tributes to authors.

This time, these were the books that i borrowed.

A closer look at the Goosebumps

And from behind

Books from left to right are:

Goosebumps N29 : My Hairiest Adventure (N26 in the original american edition)
Goosebumps N34 : Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes
Goosebumps N24 : Attack of the Mutant (N25 in the original american edition)

I think my local lending library has still around 10 Goosebumps that i haven't read. I can't wait to succesfully complete this project of mine. To read all the Goosebumps that i can find.

I have to admit, something that all of you i think already know, that they are not waaaaay close as scary as they were when i was reading them as a kid. But still what i have to acknowledge is that they still surprise me!

Most of the times, the ending that is the most obvious isn't the right one. Always the ending is subversive, is something that you had never saw it coming and adds the last ''goosebump'' to your spine before closing the book.......... Ahhh nice days. Wish i was a kid again so i could feel this thrill as back then.

Moving on, i fell in love with the author Melvin Burgess. First book of his that i read was ''Billy Elliot" (as you can see at this previous Book Corner post).

His writing was so vibrant, so emotional, so ''raw'' and so pure that i knew from that first moment that i wanted to read more books of his.

Again, i researched what books were available that i could borrow and found myself with 3 choices. Books, Junk (1996) , The Cry of the Wolf (1990) and Lady:My Life as a Bitch(2001).

I picked up The Cry of the Wolf.

Front

Back

Side

As you can see from its side it's not a big book. Basically, if i am not mistaken, most of his books are mented for younger - teenage audiences and so is this one. But don't rush so as to reject this book because of that. Again the writing is raw, vigorous and emotional. But first things first.

The book deals with the life a wolf. A real wolf.

In England wolves have vanished for some time now and everybody has forgotten their existence. There is however a hunter that is obsessed with killing rare species of animals. His favorite species is wolves and wants to kill them all until the last one. He as well believes that wolves have disappeared but is mistaken. Some few packs are still alive, hiding from humans. When he finds out about them, killing them all until the last one is his goal.

The book shows us how he decimates these last wolves and how the laaaaaaast of them try to survive.

Really an emotional book. It makes you think about life, the choices of people and respect of the wildlife without trying. The book doesn't try to impose on you to think "Oh, the hunter is such a bad person. Oh, why the heck does he want to kill those poor, unprotected animals. Oh, the hunter is an asshole. Oh, those cutie pie wolves". NO! The book just states facts. Just tells you what happened without taking parts who is wrong and who is right. That  is why i say the writing is raw, meaning is impartial.

Melvin Burgess has this gift with his raw, pure, impartial writing, that just states facts without whitewashing, that makes you feel emotional. That makes you think about was happened, makes you become the hero, all of the heros. The good and the bad ones. And after this ''lifechanging experience'' of getting into the mind and lifes of the heroes, you can decide BY YOUR OWN which part you want to take.
After undergoing this experience you know from your own WHO and WHY is right or wrong without having the author to tell you through the sentences in his book. And this is pure magic............... The magic of seeing through things and situations and by that becoming a better person yourself.

That was all my loves. I hoped you liked my review and even more i hope that you'll like this book as much as i did, after you read it.

Till the next time,
many many kisses
